Lara documents the plants, flowers and fruit she has both established and inherited in her garden. There is a sense of nostalgia in Lara's work. She has a collection of vases and jugs and in cutting flowers and placing them in these vessels there begins a limited time in which their relationship can be recorded and preserved.
She generally works in oils but having previously worked in stained glass Lara brings similar characteristics to her paintings. “Light is a vital element in my work and I enjoy playing with colour, composition and form to create something with vibrancy and personality.”
Recently she set herself a new brief; to developed a series of digital drawings which would become limited edition prints, with an intensity of colour similar to that of illuminated glass. They should be three things; striking, original, affordable.
So far there are five images in the series, all professionally printed by Iris Print. There are plans to add more to the series when the growing season starts in spring.
